The Growth Company partners with Unity Radio to deliver a unique hands-on experience for learners!
Greater Manchester headquartered social enterprise, The Growth Company, is partnering with Unity Radio´s New Talent Academy to deliver real life learning and help put theory into practice.
GC Education & Skills, delivered by the Growth Company, will sponsor Unity Radio’s weekly New Talent Show hosted by learners who have graduated from the New Talent Academy.
It will be involved in broadcasting, supporting and offering guidance about local employment, training and education opportunities for young people across Greater Manchester.
The social enterprise, which was recently named by RateMyApprenticeship as one of the Top 50 Training Providers in the UK, will also be appearing on Unity Radio’s breakfast show from July until February 2023.
The partnership has come to fruition after the Growth Company was invited onto the New Talent Academy show in June to discuss courses, opportunities and plans for the future.
Unity Radio attracts approximately 30,000 listeners per week in Greater Manchester and the upcoming shows will feature exciting topics and opportunities for young people to showcase potential career paths to achieve their ambitions.
The broadcasts have been designed to support and encourage young people into training and education
Lee Dinsdale, Director of Unity Radio, said: “All the team are thrilled to be partnering with the Growth Company as it’s an established provider of education, training and employment and Unity Radio can help carry messages across its platform to help reach the right people.”
The Growth Company will be hosting a GCSE Results Day special from 8.30am on August 25th helping learners with the next step of their journeys. It is also launching several courses specifically focused on emerging green technologies. You can see the range of what’s on offer here.
Hayley James, Director of Communications of the Growth Company, said: “When we were first invited onto the station earlier this summer we knew we had a strong connection with listeners, and we could tell straight away there was an obvious fit for the support we offered to the station’s audience. Going into partnership will help ensure young people who are ready to take the next step in their learning know what’s out there, how to access it, and feel confident in making that decision.”
For GCSE Results Day, learners will also be able to visit the GC Skills Centre in Trafford Park on Thursday the 25th of August and Friday 26th of August to learn more about what it has to offer. There will be advice to learners, tours, demonstrations and tutors who have been through apprenticeships themselves giving talks
Renée Bell, a Junior Content Producer, was invited onto the show to talk about apprenticeships from a ‘learner’ perspective.
She said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my time hosting a show on Unity Radio, a definite highlight of my career here at the Growth Company. It was a really great opportunity for me to collaborate on such an interesting and unconventional piece of content for our audiences, as well as network and explore other channels to promote our offer.
“The New Talent Show team at Unity were so welcoming and encouraging; they soon put my nerves at ease – I left the station feeling inspired by the work they produce and being able to showcase our amazing education, skills and courses for the community.”
Tune into the New Talent Show every Wednesday 1-4pm in association with the Growth Company.
The Growth Company will also be featuring on Unity Radio’s breakfast show – keep updated on their website for further details.
