Unity Radio is proud to represent Salford in ‘I am Greater’, a campaign highlighting the positive opportunities available to young people across Greater Manchester.
Led by Greater Manchester’s Violence Reduction Unit (GMVRU), the campaign champions positive alternatives to violence for young people aged 14–25. Delivered in partnership with the Home Office, its latest phase celebrates the people and organisations helping young people discover new interests, build confidence and find a sense of belonging.
The campaign was co-created with more than 100 young people, alongside youth organisations from all 10 Greater Manchester boroughs, ensuring their voices and experiences helped shape its message.
As Salford’s featured partner, Unity Radio appears in a dedicated campaign film showcasing our work supporting young people through music, radio and creative media.
Based at MediaCityUK, Unity Radio provides opportunities for young people to develop their skills and express themselves. Through Unity Radio Academy, participants can explore music production, radio presenting, podcasting and content creation while building confidence and working alongside others who share their interests.
Our involvement in ‘I am Greater’ reflects the importance of making these opportunities visible and accessible. For a young person, discovering a creative space, meeting supportive people or trying something for the first time can open up possibilities they had never considered.
Unity’s involvement also extended to the campaign event, where our team and young people joined partners from across Greater Manchester, with Megan from UnityRadio academy leading a panel discussion, alongside Marley, a NGY graduate who is now an up and coming rap artist signed to UnityRadio’s Rooted In Rhyme!
We are proud to represent Salford alongside organisations across the region that share a commitment to supporting young people and helping them take positive steps towards their futures.
Whether your interests lie in music, media, sport or something completely new, ‘I am Greater’ encourages young people to discover the activities and support available in their local area.
