Unity Radio Volunteer
Unity Radio are looking for new volunteers to join the team and experience working in the radio industry.
Every 3 months we take on new placements for our Team Support Role listed below.
Each accepted applicant would be required to attend one fixed day a week for the 3-month period.

About The Company – Unity Radio is a independent pioneering youth music radio station based in the heart of Media City underpinned with creative activities to improve well-being amongst young people, broadcasting across Greater Manchester on 92.8 FM & DAB, plus worldwide via www.unityradio.fm and the Smart Phone App!
Unity Radio has broadcast on FM since 2010 and has a history of reaching into communities with engaging outreach work, helping young people in the community creating a solid foundation of local support across the region. Unity Radio’s unique and innovative programming broadcasting a range of local, national and international dance and urban music artists reflects the tastes, interests and popular trends of its audience.
About The Role – Unity Radio are looking for a Assistant to join their team. The Applicant will be trained in aspects of social media, website copy, music and interview editing, writing articles, arranging interviews, conducting research and monitoring output.
Role Description – The applicant will need to display a skills-set and or the willingness to learn how to execute the role’s tasks to provide support for Unity Radio’s on air & online content, Experience is preferred, however not essential as training can be given.

Recording, Editing, Mastering and Clipping Shows
Recording, Editing, Mastering and Clipping Pre Recs
Recording, Editing, Mastering and Clipping Interviews
Recording, Editing, Mastering and Clipping Performances
Recording, Editing, Mastering and Clipping Adverts
Recording, Editing, Mastering and Clipping Promos
Recording, Editing, Mastering and Clipping Drops
Recording, Editing, Mastering and Clipping Sweeps
Recording, Editing, Mastering and Clipping Videos
Checking and Cleaning Music.
Creating Artwork for Shows and Guests.
(Software Used Cubase, Abode Premiere, Abode Photoshop)
Online / Social Media:
Creating Articles on the Unity Radio website for content that has been aired on the radio station.
Creating Articles on the Unity Radio website for upcoming content that will air on the radio station.
Scheduling Social Media Posts for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to share playback content.
Scheduling Social Media Posts for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to promote upcoming content.
Uploading Audio to various outlet sites such as Soundcloud, Mixcloud and Spotify.
Uploading Video to various outlet sites such as Vimeo, Youtube and Instagram.
Downloading Music for the Unity Radio Playlist
(Software Used WordPress, Hootsuite)
Research:
Searching listings of Local Relevant Events and updating to a Google Calendar.
Searching listings of National Relevant Events and updating to a Google Calendar.
Searching listings of Local Relevant Topics and feeding into programming.
Searching listings of National Relevant Topics and feeding into programming.
Searching release dates of Playlist Records & updating to a Google Calendar.
Myriad (Audio Play Out System):
Loading Audio in to Myriad Database
Setting Info points on Audio in Myriad Database
Loading Audio in to Autotrack Database
Setting Info points on Audio in Autotrack Database
Scheduling Music play out
Scheduling Pre Rec play out
Scheduling Advert play out
Scheduling Promo play out
On top of the above tasks, there will also from time to time be miscellaneous tasks, which are specific to the stations current programming needs at that time.
About The Candidate – We are looking for a candidate with a passion for emerging music. You should be reliable, have a strong desire to work in the music industry, be able to demonstrate initiative, be well-organised, a good communicator and be motivated to learn new audio and graphic design skills.
We welcome applications from people from all backgrounds, A university degree is not a prerequisite. Your enthusiasm and willingness to learn is more important to us than paper qualifications. We’re not expecting you to be the finished article as training and support will be given.
