The Unity Radio Academy is dedicated to providing high-quality training in music, arts, media, and technology to young people across Greater Manchester.

Based in the heart of MediaCityUK, home to the BBC, ITV and some of the UK’s top creative talent, it serves as a bridge between street culture and professional development in the creative sector.

Led by experienced tutors with real industry backgrounds, the Academy gives you the chance to gain recognised qualifications while learning hands on in a working radio station.

Your tutors include DJ Basha, a professional DJ, youth mentor and Unity Radio’s Deputy Director, Hayley Elliott, a performing arts specialist and Education Coordinator, and JSD, a touring artist and established producer apart of Virus Syndicate.

Music Technology
Start date: 28th September
Days: Mondays and Wednesdays (10am-4pm)
Length: 9 weeks
Qualification: NCFE Level 1 in Music Technology

Learn the essentials of music production, from beat making and recording, in our fully equipped studio. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to level up, this course will sharpen your skills! To get involved, you will need to complete your expression of interest here.

Radio and TV Production
Start date: 6th October
Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays (10am-4pm)
Length: 9 weeks
Qualification: Arts Award Silver

Explore the full process of creating content for radio and TV, from scripting and presenting to recording and editing. Perfect for anyone who wants to get into presenting, podcasting or behind the scenes production. Places on this course go quickly so make sure you submit your expression of interest here.

NGY
Start date: 29th September
Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays (7-9PM)
Length: 8 weeks
Qualification: Discovery Arts Award

Aimed at younger creatives, the NGY programme gives you the space to develop your voice and build confidence through content creation, performance and storytelling. Whether you’re an artist, aspiring presenter or future producer, Unity Radio Academy is here to help you take your next step.
