
This Summer Unity Radio, OSJ, and The Manchester Hip Hop Archives, supported by the Arts Council England, will be providing young talent with an opportunity to take part in learning a range of Hip Hop skills in a special week long workshop programme delivered by professional Breakdancers, Graffiti Artists, DJ’s and MC producers. Young participants attending the programme, will be supported to create their own material ready to showcase at the OSJ Hip Hop Family Funday in Burnage on Sunday August 4th and following a week of experimentation, practice and creating a final product, will achieve a Bronze Arts Award.
The programme consists of 5 days training, plus a finale masterclass (Monday 29/07/19 – Saturday 03/08/19) in a chosen specialism with regional Hip Hop pioneers including, Fresh Skillz ( Breakdance) , El-Statico (DJ/Turntablist), Espa ( Graffiti), Seven Spherez (MC/Producers) before being given the opportunity to refine newly learned skills and techniques in special one-day masterclass sessions with world famous pioneers; Mouse (Breakdance), Mark XTC (DJ/ Turntablist), ONEK ( Graffiti) , and MC Supernatural ( Rapper) , ahead of the young people preparing for their own special performance and painting on the day of the event.
Workshops will be taking place onsite at the Burnage Sports Club, Mauldeth Road , M19 1AB, and sessions will be managed by Unity Radio. Session times will be run in the daytime as this is School Holiday’s , (11 to 3pm TBC) to allow for young people to make their own way safely to and from the area.
