This week on The Breakfast Show we delve back into wider Mancunian culture as Jasper is set to interview one of Manchester’s most creative minds in Abe Bako, founder of high-fashion garment company PlusNone. As well as this, we will be welcoming back a familiar face to the studio who is fresh off a new release in “Know That” featuring [ K S R ]. Tune in from 7:30am Monday to Thursday to hear the latest music and interviews with exciting guests from the city and beyond.
On Tuesday we welcome a very special guest to the studio in Abe Bako, Manchester based creative and founder/lead designer at PlusNone. Debuting early in the 2010’s, Abe is no stranger to fashion/streetwear culture and has watched the realm develop and evolve in to the behemoth it is today. After a long hiatus, due to Abe’s work on other projects, PlusNone returns in a completely rebranded state, with only logo typography remaining the same. Abe took to Instagram to reveal the new collection entitled “Our Mother’s Nature”, which features four colourways of a tastefully distressed tracksuit. The four designs take inspiration from the earth, air, water and fire; with each of the individual concepts bringing different details to each of the four colourways. Although there has been no formal release date disclosed as of yet, you can catch Abe chat to Jasper from 8am on Tuesday about the upcoming capsule and when we might expect it.
Thursday see’s Jasper reunited with a familiar face in Unity Radio’s studio. Abnormal Sleepz will be joining us to discuss his latest track, an R&B influenced rap song complete with Sleepz’s signature cadence and an intoxicating hook from another of Manchester’s frontrunners [ K S R ]. Sleepz is no stranger in the Manchester scene as he’s been releasing music since 2018 and the rapper has only gone from strength to strength since then. Last year Sleepz released his second full-length album in “Meditape III”, which just happened to be one of my favourite projects from the local scene that year. It seems as if Sleepz has started this year with the same energy as he finished the last; with two singles already out, the possibility of another body of work seems likely. To find out more about what Sleepz has in store for the rest of the year make sure you tune in from 8am on Thursday!
