Unity Radio is proud to announce its partnership with the Greater Manchester and Blackburn with Darwen Music Hub, strengthening connections between music education, youth development and the region’s creative industries.
The partnership brings Unity Radio’s experience in music, broadcasting and supporting emerging talent into a regional network committed to helping children and young people access high-quality music education. Together, we aim to help more young people discover their creativity, build confidence and explore where their interest in music could take them.
The Music Hub brings together local music services and regional organisations across Greater Manchester and Blackburn with Darwen. Its work supports inclusive music-making and progression, helping young people develop their skills and access opportunities whatever their background.
Through the partnership, Unity Radio will build closer relationships with schools, music services and education partners, exploring opportunities for workshops, referrals and collaborative projects. The aim is to create clearer routes from school-based music learning into practical experiences in production, broadcasting and the wider music industry.
Based at MediaCityUK, Unity Radio Academy gives young people opportunities to develop practical creative skills in a working radio environment. Its programmes include Music Technology; Radio, TV and Podcast Production; and the New Generation Youth programme, which helps young people develop their voices through radio.
Participants can explore making music, recording, presenting and creating content while building teamwork, communication and confidence. Unity’s relationship with Ableton also supports its music technology provision, helping learners access tools used in contemporary music production.
Joining the Hub’s network creates opportunities to share this experience with more education partners and help young people take their next steps into further learning and creative activity.
At the heart of the partnership is a shared ambition to make music opportunities more accessible and support young people’s interests and aspirations.
Unity Radio looks forward to working with the Hub and its partners to develop meaningful connections between schools, community music provision and industry, giving the next generation more ways to learn, create and be heard. We are extremely pleased to be hosting the next regional meeting at UnityRadio this January 2027.
Schools, music services and youth organisations interested in working with Unity Radio Academy are encouraged to get in touch through unityradio.fm.
