Whitworth Young Contemporaries Workshops,
via zoom (Jan – Apr 2021).
We are looking for young people to join creative workshops via zoom that will run between Jan-April 2021.
WYC is a group of young people aged 16-24, who come together to develop and lead projects, working with artists, curators and the Whitworth’s collection to explore the world around us.
Every year we work on different projects and get to explore the Whitworth and its collection. To date we have curated exhibitions, worked with professional artists and planned and delivered our own events. We have done so much there is too much to write on here so see what we get up to follow us on insta @whitworthyc
This year due to the pandemic we are working a little differently running creative workshops on zoom. Despite being online the sessions will be good fun, a way to meet new people and you’ll make something along the way. Each workshop will be led by an emerging artist and all materials will be sent to your home. When things get back to normal we will move back into the Whitworth. Come join us 🙂

You are your own brand
6-7pm Wednesday 3rd & 10th March
We can often doubt our capabilities and lose sight of our strengths. The fact is that we do not need to come up with a brand to showcase ourselves, we are our own brand! If we own it and cultivate it, we can achieve our dreams!
Exploring customising, social media and themes around confidence; delve into the land of the silly and west with emerging artist and designer Polly from Westweaves.

Making History
6-7pm Wednesday 24th & 31st March
The phrase ‘unprecedented times’ has almost become a meme, but it is true we are living through an extraordinary moment. Join emerging artist Josie Tothill to look at artworks in the Whitworth’s collection that embody the intersections of place, emotion and events and use found objects to represent our experience an ask how people like us make history?
