UK Management College on New Salford Campus Opening and Wider Access to Higher Education! Interview w/ Kai Jasper
UK Management College (UKMC) has officially opened a new campus in Salford, strengthening its commitment to widening participation and improving access to degree-level education for under-represented communities.
Professor Jason Powell, Head of College and Deputy Chief Executive Officer, said the new campus reflects UKMC’s long standing mission to place education at the heart of local communities and ensure that no learner is left behind.
Professor Powell said. “We are here to support learners who may not see higher education as an option for them, whether because they have been out of education for a long time, lack confidence, or have been excluded from traditional routes.”
UK Management College delivers foundation degree programmes in partnership with established universities, including the University of Wolverhampton, Arts University Bournemouth, and Canterbury Christ Church University. Current and upcoming courses include business management, digital marketing and management, events management and fashion management and strategy.
According to Professor Powell, the college’s curriculum is shaped directly by community feedback and labour market needs. “We actively listen to learners, community organisations and employers,” he said. “That insight is embedded into our programmes so students gain not only qualifications, but the skills employers are looking for in a rapidly changing world.”
UKMC maintains close links with employers and industry bodies, with employability skills embedded throughout its courses. The college will host a careers fair at its Salford campus on 24 February, bringing together organisations such as the NHS, KPMG and a range of local businesses to offer guidance on careers, placements, internships and employability skills.
The Salford campus was formally launched at a recent grand opening attended by civic leaders, including the High Sheriff, the Mayor of Trafford, the Deputy Mayor of Salford and the Deputy Lieutenant for Greater Manchester. Professor Powell described the opening as one of the proudest moments of his 30-year career in higher education.
The campus features state of the art facilities, a modern learning resource centre and a student led association designed to give learners a strong sense of ownership and identity within the college.
Applications to UK Management College are open directly through the institution, with a personalised admissions process and enhanced student support available throughout each learner’s academic journey. An open day is scheduled for March, with further details available from the college’s recruitment team.
