Tsana turns grief Into a Summer Anthem with new single ‘Daddy’s Jeep’! Interview w/ Charlotte Carter

Manchester singer-songwriter and Unity Radio presenter Tsana has transformed personal grief into a heartfelt celebration with her latest single, “Daddy’s Jeep”.

Speaking with Charlotte on Unity Radio, Tasana revealed the song was inspired by memories of her late father, who passed away in 2021. Wanting to honour his Jamaican roots and vibrant personality, she chose to create something uplifting rather than emotional.

“I didn’t want it to be sad,” she explained. “I wanted it to celebrate who he was, good vibes, colourful energy and confident.”

Produced by longtime collaborator JSD, “Daddy’s Jeep” blends Tsana’s signature R&B style with reggae influences, marking a new creative direction for the artist.

The track captures vivid childhood memories of summer family gatherings, reggae music playing through the house and her father proudly driving his Jeep through the streets.

“Those are all real memories,” she said. “My dad thought he was a G because he had a Jeep.”

Although the song radiates warmth and nostalgia, recording it proved emotional at times.

“There was a moment where I cried in the studio,” Tasana admitted. “But I needed it. This song became therapy and healing for me.”

Originally intended as a private tribute, Tasana only decided to release the song after encouragement from her sisters, who believed others would connect with its themes of family and remembrance.

Since its release, listeners have shared their own memories and emotional connections to the track.

“People have been saying it reminds them of summers growing up or memories with their own dads,” she said.

Alongside her music career, Tsana also hosts her own Friday show on Unity Radio and is currently preparing to release a new EP later this summer, featuring a mix of reggae, jazz and hip hop-inspired R&B sounds.

“I’m allowing myself to be free creatively,” she said. “But it will always be rooted in R&B.”
