The MCR Lounge 17th Birthday Party!
On 9th November 2024, Manchester’s longest-ever-running urban venue will celebrate 17 years of unforgettable nightlife in the heart of the city.
Back in October 2007, The Manchester Lounge (originally Lounge31) opened its doors, making a bold impact on Manchester’s nightlife scene. Nestled near the iconic Printworks at 31 Withy Grove, it quickly became known as one of the city’s go-to spots, especially with its late-night license that allowed for partying long after other venues closed. The Manchester Lounge has continued to be a favourite for local residents and those traveling into the city for a night out, as well as a sanctuary for late-night industry workers to enjoy the night once their shift is over.
The Manchester Lounge’s success is deeply rooted in the vision of its two founding families, hailing from Indian and Nigerian backgrounds. By merging their decades of experience in event planning, business, and entertainment, they shaped a venue that infused Manchester’s nightlife with the beats of RnB, Hip Hop, Dancehall, and Afrobeats. Over the years, both local talents and internationally recognised DJs have taken over the decks, delivering unmatched musical experiences.
Despite undergoing name changes over the years—Lounge31, Aura, The Lounge, and now The Manchester Lounge—its ownership and values have remained steadfast. The venue has consistently provided an unrivalled atmosphere for late-night parties, brunches and iconic events, building a strong reputation as one of Manchester’s premier nightlife destinations. Now with 4 VIP areas all with their own distinct character; there’s always room for multiple parties within the underground party venue allowing area and full venue hire.
On staying strong and remaining a prominent player in Manchester’s nightlife scene, one of the owners, Eddie Odudu states “we never in our wildest dreams believed we would be still here after 17 years, but to still have some staff & customers who were here with us when we opened means a lot to us.”

The Manchester Lounge has hosted performances from some of the most prominent names in the music industry, including DJ EZ, Trevor Nelson MBE, Capital Xtra’s DJ Semtex, Bugzy Malone, Public Enemy, 112, Lotto Boyz, Ginuwine, Skepta, Damage and the late great Joyce Simms and Fat Man Scoop to name a few. It has also been instrumental in showcasing an array of local DJs like DJ JC, DJ Cee Gordon, Steveo, G2. Stylus, Steveo, Marcel Stevens, OP and DJ Eddie Down.
In recent years, comedy has become a staple at The MCR Lounge, further broadening its appeal. Since The Comedy Lounge debuted in 2021, the stage has welcomed celebrated comedians such as Richard Blackwood, Slim, Geoff Schumann, Dizzle The Comedian and White Yardie, offering patrons a unique mix of music and humour in the heart of Manchester.
On Saturday, 9th November 2024, The Manchester Lounge will mark its 17th birthday with a massive celebration. Attendees can look forward to a nostalgic night featuring drinks, music, and entry prices being rewound to 17 years ago. Whether you’re an old skool Lounge31 or Aura partygoer or a newcomer, this party promises to be one for the books, fuelled by Manchester’s finest DJs.
Early bird tickets go on sale 4th October through Skiddle, Eventbrite, and Fatsoma, starting from just £5. Guests will be treated to glamour décor, complimentary welcome drinks, and plenty of surprises throughout the night. Over 18’s Only, ID required.
