The NGY Show,
Welcome back to the NGY show here on unity radio. Right now we’re going to be interviewing Stringfela a rapper, who’s also plays ukulele while he raps. Let’s find all about that. We’ve got some questions. Could you tell me how you got into rapping?
Stringfela,
I got into rapping. Firstly, I used to go to my friend’s house and make a beat on, everybody had passed the mic, not as a practical mic, just like a pretend mic, so to speak, and everybody had raps, and so on and so forth. And when it got to me, I never had no bars, I never had nothing to say. So I felt left out in a sense. So I took it upon myself to go away and actually write some bars. And it took me a while to get the courage to actually spit some bars to repeat, but when I did, everyone felt it, I liked it much less. And that’s how I got into working by just being on my friends and neighbours button. So I just didn’t want to be a spare part left out. So I’ve read some bars and just joined in the front basically laughing over the beat.
The NGY Show,
Can you explain why the ukulele features in a lot and your music.
Stringfela,
I learned to play guitar first. And then I was trawling, YouTube, just looking for different artists and different sounds and different instruments. And I realised that nobody at that specific time was actually rapping to the ukulele. So I already played the guitar. So I thought to myself, I just get another stringed instrument, it can’t be that hard to actually learn. And then I just started laughing to the ukulele trying to be just something different than it is fair enough is a unique instrument as well to mix in with the rocking so you actually find it very much. Just a little spin up question. Besides like your musical career, what hobbies you have, for hobbies I have I like going fishing. I thought I was like going fishing not my oldest one. She’s not really intuitional like the fish What? My other three daughters they love fishing on the go walking a lot. What is walking stop for the mental health. Where’s the lungs gets everything off your mind. Obviously, when you walk in, in the open spaces, forests, beside rivers, everything, everything’s cleanse, everything’s gone, you’re actually thinking of anything, you just get to the food can have some fresh air, we’re getting some good exercise.
The NGY Show,
What would you be doing in life if you weren’t making music.
Stringfela,
See, that’s a tough one. And I thought about this because obviously, questions fired over to me before the interview. And it’s been good music because a lot of people and a lot of artists will probably agree with me on this one. You forget about music, you can forget about it for six months, a year, two years, but you’ll always come back to it. So I can’t imagine myself not ever doing music for only for periods of time, if that makes sense.
The NGY Show,
Please describe to us who inspires you and your music career.
Stringfela,
Who inspires me I have a few musical friends around but they’re not all musical. All of them. Some of them are not musical sort of breast and achieve great things and musically. I’d say my friend Mark Menzies is a really good thing. God is a great guy, a great human being. He’s just an all around great person and I really look up to him musically.
The NGY Show,
If people want to check out more about you, where can they find out more.
Stringfela,
They can find me on Instagram @stringfela or they can find me on Soundcloud to have is to hold our Twitter extreme fellow. I have my own Facebook page, which is actually in front of again. And that’s all the sites for the moment really until I’ve got some mastered material. So the wider a wider audience can listen.
