In the new year the Next Gen Youths went for a little outing to Challenge for change in Trafford park. We didn’t know much about it before we went apart form it would be an activity that would challenge us to the Max. When we arrived we were greeted by our in instructor Immy and his assistant Charlie, they made us feel very welcome and ready to take on the challenge.
We started the session with a warm up to get us moving before we moved on to some team building exercises
which not only helped us work better as a team but were loads of fun to do. We were crawling through tyre pits, running around, jumping up and down and achieving tasks as a team. when we completed our warm up and team challenges it was time to move onto the massive indoor aerial assault course, which at first glance looked pretty scary high up in the ceiling.
A few people were nervous of heights and didn’t know if they would be able to achieve it, but with a bit of encouragement from the rest of our team and a massive helping hand from our lovely instructors Immy and charlie we were soon up in the air. We all got harnessed up so we were nice and safe to take part. As part of the course we had to take a leap of faith, crawling through tunnels, climbing walls and tightrope walking all of which was great fun.
Everyone enjoyed the day and really encouraged and supported each other and everyone said it would be something they would try again and recommend to others. some of the c
o
mments from the group were “it was sick because it brought the fear out in everyone, but was good to see everyone overcoming it” “it was something new to try and i would definitely recommend it to others”. if you would like to know more about our trip to challenge for change then tune in this thursday between 7-9pm to hear our interview with all the staff down there.
