MORGAN talks new EP ‘Emotional Gangster’ and Byron Messiah Collab! Interview w/ Zandie Lena
Singer-songwriter MORGAN speaks about how she grew up with music and was influenced from an early age, with her dad being an MC for Jamaican soundsytems. She quickly picked up the piano and began her singing career at just 16.
In 2020 during COVID, MORGAN started making remixes and mash-ups on TikTok, which was the catalyst to her success. She speaks on how powerful TikTok is, and the importance of it as a platform for upcoming artists.
Released on the 25th October, MORGAN goes on to tell us about her EP ‘Emotional Gangster’, and how the inspiration for this title is a reflection of her personality, and the duality of having a vulnerable side that not many people see, and a tough exterior. She also tells us about the variation in her music and how she doesn’t want to stick to one genre.
MORGAN has graced the stages of huge festivals such as Glastonbury, as well as touring with Rudimental, Anne Marie, and playing the NFL half time show. As well as this she has an upcoming UK solo tour in November, where she will be playing Glasgow, Manchester, London, Birmingham and Bristol.
She closes the interview off by sharing her wisdom and advice to young and upcoming artists, based on her own experience of the music industry as an emerging artist, speaking on authenticity, and tells us, ‘If you feel like something’s not right, it’s probably not right’.
