Manchester Youth Zone talk keeping youth away from crime and poverty! Interview w/ The New Talent Academy
Amanda, Chief Executive, from Manchester Youth Zone shares on their efforts
to help North Manchester youth through achieving their goals and hobbies.
Based in Harpurhey, the Manchester Youth Zone is celebrating 10 years of being set up.
The centre has helped thousands of young people and children in staying away
from crime and bad influences dominating the north of Manchester.
Manchester Youth Zone is working hard to help young people make proud changes in life.
This has even led to some children and young people succeeding in ways they never imagined,
by becoming popular musicians, completing education or just being able to pay their rent.
The centre is also well known for their efforts during both covid and the cost of living crisis,
as they set up 1,000 free hot meals for any young person searching for help.

Manchester Youth Zone is rooted and has been driving excellence in play and
youth services in North Manchester for the past 10 years – opening up opportunities and
possibilities that give over 2,000 children every year the foundations they so rightfully
deserve. We offer world class sports, arts, careers and youth work facilities – have free
membership and provide every young person with a free nutritious meal.
We are proud of our diversity of our communities, our team, and our members,
but recognise the disadvantage and inequalities that exist across these. We are relentless
in our pursuit of a level playing field for all young people and we won’t stop until we get
there. We work alongside our members to empower them to equip themselves with the tools
they need to increase their confidence, build and develop positive relationships, remain
inspired by the opportunities their life has ahead of them and to assist them to add
something back to their community.
We work hard to provide an environment where all our members feel safe and to
feel part of a team. A team that is consistently there to support, guide, nurture and when
appropriate, challenge. All delivered in a warm, kind and brilliantly equipped environment
that allows children and young people to close out the challenges in the outside world and
be inspired through positive activities, developing friendships, learning new skills, and
having people they can trust their experiences and feelings to.
