Kate Green the Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester talks on inspiring trust and safety! Interview w/ The NGY Show
Kate Green joined Unity Radio’s NGY Show to talk on her duties as Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester for Policing
and Crime, as well as her goals to inspire trust and safety to the public.
In early January 2023, Kate Green was made the new Deputy Mayor for Greater Manchester, and since
has put her attention into fully delivering all her duties. She has provided help to all sectors of public security,
such as police, fire rescue, or community led projects where the aims are to prevent youth crime.
Kate Green talks on her challenges as the new Deputy Mayor and how she is now in a position where she
overlooks all sectors. Kate acknowledges the difficulties of her role, however mentions she is fully committed on
delivering safety to her communities.
In the NGY Show the Deputy Mayor opens up on her inspiration to become a police officer. Kate has previously experienced
gender based harassment and now one of her duties is to also overlook crime and safety for those who have
suffered from gender harassment. This has also inspired the new “Is this OK?” campaign.
Kate goes on to tell of her most difficult new duties as the new Deputy Mayor which will be to provide
and promise both trust and safety to communities who are affected or doubtful of police after the recent
cases of police misconduct. The Deputy Mayor encourages anyone who has witnessed or gone through any kind
of unfair police experience, to open a ticket of complaint, or if very serious, get in contact with the
Independent Police Conduct.
