Adoption Matters on Growing Families Together & Real Stories of Early Permanence! Interview w/ Kai Jasper
Unity Radio presenter Kai Jasper spoke to adoptive parents about their experiences of Early Permanence as part of the new Growing Families Together campaign.
Adoption agencies across the North West have joined forces to launch Growing Families Together, a 2026 campaign encouraging more people to explore adoption through Early Permanence.
Also known as fostering for adoption or foster to adopt, Early Permanence allows approved families to care for children at the earliest possible stage while decisions are being made about their long-term future. Families are approved as both foster carers and adopters, helping provide children with stability and reduce the number of moves they experience.
Kai Jasper spoke to adoptive parents to hear what the experience is really like.
For Iqbal and Ayesha, adoption initially felt unfamiliar and they worried about whether they were financially and emotionally prepared. “We underestimated ourselves and whether we were ‘good enough’ to take care of a child.” Their social worker helped them work through those concerns, and they are now proud parents to two daughters.
As of 31 July 2026, 286 children in the North West were waiting for an adoptive family. Between April 2025 and March 2026, 67 children were placed through Early Permanence across the region.
