At Unity Radio and the Unity Radio Academy, we are focused on creating real pathways into the creative industries, not just through classroom learning but through genuine, industry level practice. We believe it is important that young people can see a clear and realistic connection between where they are now and where they could land in the future.
That is why it matters that the people delivering and leading our programmes at UnityRadio Academy are actively involved in the industry themselves. This creates a visible pathway that is achievable and rooted in real experience to be able to give first hand advice and guidance to the next generation of talent.
Recently, that became very tangible when DJ Basha had the opportunity to perform at the CO-OP Live Manchester as part of the D-Block Europe UK tour supporting Mazza L20 alongside Fastlane Wez, which has been widely recognised as one of the biggest UK rap tours to date.
The CO-OP Live is the UK’s largest indoor arena and has already hosted some of the biggest artists in the world, including names such as Drake and Burna Boy, further strengthening Manchester’s reputation as a world class music city.
Playing on the main stage in front of over 20,000 people was a huge personal milestone for DJ Basha and a reminder of how far a journey in music can go with time, consistency and the right support around you.
For our academy students, this is not about headlines or hype. It is about showing that progress is possible, that there are real steps into the industry, and that the skills, mindset and experience developed through our programmes can open doors to opportunities that once might have felt out of reach.
