Erick The Architect talks new single ‘No Ice’, ‘Flatbush Zombies’ & Solo Career! Interview w/ Poppy Smith
Erick Arc Elliot, also known as ‘Erick The Architect’, sat down with Poppy Smith to join her on the show
discussing his past decade within the music industry, and the back story of his latest single
‘No Ice’ featuring New York rapper, AKTHESAVIOUR.
Erick is known to be 1 of 3 members of the Legendary Brooklyn-based rap group, Flatbush Zombies,
which was formed in 2010 with countless streams and a diehard fanbase. Erick discusses his time
with his former group members, Meechy Darko and Zombie Juice, plus their upbringing in Brooklyn.
Further to this he goes on to discuss his on-going journey and growth through evolving as a solo musician,
including moving to LA 3 years ago.
Poppy and Erick also go on to discuss the change of generational music today and how social media
has gained control of what we listen to, embellishing and glamorising a certain lifestyle
that can form an illusion on which listeners today can become fixated.
Erick recently released his single ‘No Ice’ featuring AKTHESAVIOUR and speaks with Poppy
on how the song is based on being able to achieve, without the need for a material-based lifestyle.
“What the song represents to me is like, a lot of times you hear songs that embellish a lifestyle,
that makes you spend money, it makes you enjoy this lavish lifestyle that requires money to live it,
and I just thought like, I could make a song that is not the opposite, but it shows you yo bro, no ice!”
Erick and Poppy also go on to discuss Erick’s former EP and movement ‘Futureproof’
with recent and upcoming projects on the line-up.
