
DJ Clark Kent, has sadly passed away aged 58
One of Hip Hop’s true originals DJ Clark Kent, has sadly passed away aged 58.
The Brooklyn born DJ Producer saw a career spanning the entire length of the culture, from the 80’s to the 2020’s, working with many of the greatest wordsmiths bringing his SP12, SP1200 and Akai S950 skills through the decades to produce singles and albums with the finest including; Rakim, Doug E Fresh, Das EFX, Queen Latifah, Fugees, Slick Rick, Redman, Keith Murray, and Kanye West as well as studio work with the songbird supreme, Mariah Carey.
The man who also introduced Dame Dash to Jay Z, unquestionably set about a turn of events that led to Hip Hop’s first ever Billionaire.
DJ Clark Kent studio work is best known for his momentous track ‘Brooklyn’s Finest’ on Jay z’s debut album ‘Reasonable Doubt’ which featured The Notorious B.I.G. Released in June 1996. In less than a year sadly Biggie had passed, and the Brooklyn Anthem achieved legendary status with a timeless encapsulation of Brooklyn’s Hip Hop legacy.
Actively spinning mixes in his radio host role on WBLS 107.5FM in the early 90’s alongside the likes of legendary MTV Raps T Money and Dr Dre. Teenagers would tape and share his mixes, for the hottest emerging talent coming out of NYC.
In more recent years Clark teamed up with radio legend Stretch Armstrong to DJ as part of New York City’s ‘The Originals’ crew alongside radio legend Tony Touch and Rich Medina who ‘Keep it Rocking’ in nightclubs and on summer stages across NYC.
