On the 22nd of June it was the 4th annual Windrush Day – an observed day in the UK which aims commemorate and remember the Windrush generation which migrated to the UK 74 year’s ago. To celebrate this, The Caribbean & African Health Network hosted a festival in Moss Side on Saturday 25th June. A perfect opportunity for the Windrush community and beyond to showcase everything their culture encompasses.
The event started from 12pm and finsished at 6pm, at the beautiful Alexandra Park, Moss Side, Manchester! Unity Radio live broadcasted the event in which people came to experience the diverse nature of Caribbean & African history through songs, food, clothes, art, performances, poems and interviews.
The Festival included specialist stalls, cultural workshops, family activities and so much more. Aside from these activities, there was plenty to keep the masses entertained; live music performances from local artists and sporting activities for the whole family to get involved with.
